wildcats!

i haven’t said much, but i think clay has been spreading the word, and jusging from a few comments on other posts, i’m pretty sure he has. the big doozie of a project on my plate right now is a 3 issue wildcat (aka the loveable ted grant) arc in jsa:classified written by the adorable b. clay moore!

i am peniclling and inking the run myself. clay has written a fantastic script and i’m having a riot doing the art… i’m not sure what the ethics are on posting pencils and such, so i’m going to avoid that for now, but i will post a couple versions of wildcat that i did up to try out for the book…

looking pretty cool! I’m looking forward to this Clay hasn’t dropped all the details on this book yet. I’m a big fan of the character and your doing him justice in these pics!!

    thanks joel!

took a look at your blog – big kirby and fourth world fan myself! where mike cho’s love leans towards the new gods i’ve always fallen into the camp of mr. miracle and the lovely big barda!

this was my first go at my fave duo; http://thecalaverakid.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

    think it’s time for a round two…

  3. Joel says:

Thanks for checking the blog. I love Mister Miracle and Barda. Really I just love it all.

You did a Barda sketch for my in my sketchbook it’s one of my favs, I just don’t have a scanner so it’s slowing going posting them.

Whoa – way cool! Congrats on getting to do Wildcat! Wondering if you’ll also be including his son? (Don’t tell!) Hard to pick my favorite of the two. I think the top one looks more like he’d fit in well in the JLUnlimited cartoonverse? I like the very-black costume with the shadows, but both look great!

Again – congrats! Will have to check that out…

This is probably the first place that Wildcat has been revealed as the subject of the run, but what Ramon’s doing on the book is amazing.

And, no…his son is not involved. But there are some kick-ass Golden Age flashbacks.

    ooops.

Both of those Wildcats are fantastic. I can’t wait to see the finished pages when it comes out! I love the JSA, and the chance to see an artist of your caliber on one of them is incredible!
