return from san diego

last week i attended the san diego comic con. it amazes me how that show grows exponentially every year! i didn’t have a table, i simple wandered about and enjoyed the show, and spent quite a bit of time on the beach as well in an effort to give myself a bit of a holiday.

with my busy schedule of late i haven’t had a chance to doodle up much. so for now i thought i’d share the “tip-in” image from the hard cover edition of MACHINATIONS OF DOOM. the book is available through Palladium books, and pretty soon i plan to be carrying it on my website as well. as soon as i get that darned store set up!

RIFTS Snapshot

meckle you say?

so this little guy’s been floating around in the back of my head for about, i’m guessing, five years or more. he began as a doodle on a napkin for a piece i was working on for a book, but i liked him so much i kept him for myself and gave the company something else all together.

when i draw characters i tend to form stories about them, especially after they get a name, they suddenly seem to take on a life of their own. meckle is not different in this respect. little stories have been formulating around him for years, mostly of the comedic space opera variety.

if my plan goes as, uhm, planned i will be debuting little meckle vignettes on transmission x during my hiatus on kukuburi.

yes, hiatus.

once i wrap up chapter 1 of kukuburi, which should be around pg120 or so, i plan on taking a break and collecting the story and preparing it for a print edition. at the same time i will also begin plotting and writing chapter 2.

so rather than keep my tx slot empty i would prefer to keep folks entertained.

i know a space opera starring a silly looking alien is not everyone’s cup of tea, but this fellow is itching to have his tale told.

so between now and then i will post pre-production doodles for meckle…

hope you all enjoy :)
