THE RESISTANCE CONTINUES!

i just returned from the nycc a few days ago after a day or two of well needed downtime i’m back in the game. while at the con i had the chance to meet resistance writer mike costa and he divulged the fun stuff i get to draw in upcoming issues. wish i could say more but i’ve been sworn to secrecy!

however what i can do is share a couple images from the beginning of issue three which have been coloured by tony aviña.

Resistance #3 p1 Resistance #3 p2

as mentioned in previous posts my schedule before the nycc was chaos, to understate it a bit. over the month of january (we’ll ignore december and november which were quite similar) i inked the final issue of nyx for marvel, finished inks on resistance 2 then pencilled and inked resistance 3, inked and coloured an 8 page star wars special which i had drawn in the previous month, inked 60 illustrations for a children’s book, thumbnailed a secret project for dark horse, drew and inked about 100 images for an ad campaign, executed a full page illustration for an insurance magazine annnnnnd finally inked and coloured a 4 page mystery comic for a children’s magazine.

i’d like to tip my hat to my good friends rob coughler (my co-creator on bns) who flatted most of the colour work i tackled and andy b who toned the illustrations for the ad campaign.

whew.

i think that’s it.

needless to say i avoided sleep and thrived on coffee.

now, though, the dust has settled and my schedule, thankfully, is more humane. my new years resolution is to learn to say “no” and keep my goals realistic

that said it was an exciting month and i’m quite proud of the work i did. when i can i will showcase it in future posts.

currently i am working on resistance 4 along with the 3rd instalment of the 4pg children’s mystery comic “max finder” which will be a regular feature in owl kids beginning in the march issue. the comic is written by craig battle, with art by moi and beginning with the april installment colours by my studio mate andy b. the previous incarnation of the comic was illustrated by my good and talented friend mike cho, so i’ve got big boots to fill!

beyond that the year ahead is going to be a full one. the aforementioned secret project from dark horse comics will begin to get underway and will be announced by the company in the next few months. also on the schedule are a possible small project with marvel and another, besides the secret one, long term project with dark horse as well as a possible re-teaming with b. clay moore with whom i worked with on the jsa: classifieds wildcat arc!

the corporate sandbox aside i plan on knuckling down and returning to my beloved kukuburi and butternutsquash in the coming months. a specific relaunch date for each will be posted as soon as i have everything organised.

as things unfold i will keep you fine folks posted…

wish me luck.
